When Gov. Gina Raimondo recently asked Senator Michael McCaffrey what he had been up to and learned as part of a bicycle safety program run by the Rhode Island Association of Justice he handed out free bicycle helmets to Hoxsie School fourth graders, she said that sound like fun. McCaffrey and attorney Henry Monti took her comment a step further, arranging for Raimondo to play a role when the program visited Randall Holden School Wednesday. She was a hit, especially when at the request of fourth graders she performed a “dab,” a gesture with her chin in her elbow and her free hand raised that is a rage with kids. For Monti, it was also a special occasion since he attended Holden completing sixth grade in 1969. As it turns out McCaffrey was also a student at Holden as well as House Majority Leader K. Joseph Shekarchi that prompted Raimondo to note many leaders attended the school. A total of 72 helmets were given out, some went to non-fourth graders who needed one.
