Warwick Sewer Authority board member John Justo and Earl Bond, project manager at the authority confer at the rear entrance to Veterans Memorial Middle School yesterday where work was finalized on lining 737 feet of 20 inch pipe – the Oakland Beach interceptor – that is seriously compromised by hydrogen gas and could have crumbled as did a section of the same line under Sandy Lane last November. The work done by Green Mountain Pipeline Services of Vermont, which did the Sandy Lane project, placed a felt sock impregnated with resin in the line after a bypass was in place and the pipe cleaned. The line was then filled with hot water allowing the resin to harden and form a new interior lining to the pipe. The job, coordinated with school vacation, was slated to be completed Wednesday afternoon. (Warwick Beacon photo)
