(Missing child search)

We've seen enough movies about the search for missing children, but at least this one has a different, modern twist to it.

John Cho plays David Kim, a single parent whose 16-year-old daughter (Michelle La) is missing.

Has she run away or has she been kidnapped?

With the help of a determined police detective (East Greenwich's own Debra Messing) the search begins and continues for an hour and 40 minutes until the case is solved.

What makes this movie unique is that the search is done online, using his daughter's personal computer to track down her friends and activities leading up to her disappearance. Surely, teenagers will relate closely to the incredible functions available on the computer, both good and bad. We older folks will sit in awe at what can be accomplished online.

As the search comes close to be solved, there are two twists that will throw you for a loop and an out-of-the-blue ending that is hard to predict...although the director and writer give you a couple of vague clues.

"Searching" is different and therefore makes for an interesting look at a familiar subject. Rated PG-13, with some profanity and a few tense moments.
