Wise words from firefighters at Y’s Owl Nursery School

Posted

Members of the Warwick Fire Department visited the Kent County branch of the YMCA of Greater Providence as part of Fire Prevention Week, to teach children in the Y’s Owl Nursery School about their role in protecting them in case of fire. The kids had the opportunity to talk to the firefighters, learn valuable safety tips and see, touch and ask questions about various fire apparatus. Fire Prevention Week began in 1922 and is on record as being the longest running public health observance. This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme, “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!” highlights the importance of always having an escape plan and showcases the importance of fire safety to younger students in both a fun and educational manner.

This is a great public interest gesture on the part of the Warwick Firefighters.

Can we have more please? I believe it serves our community well, puts the Warwick Firefighters in a healthy light, and will help attract new home buyers and taxpayers. A win-win for us all.

    Happy Autumn everyone.

My daughter absolutely loved the visit from the firemen to her school. Thank you for taking the time to teach her about fire safety! I am wondering if there is a way I can get a copy of one of the pictures she is in?
