Robert P. Zickendrath, peacefully departed this world on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was 74 years old. Robert was the beloved husband of Linda E. (Young) Zickendrath, and together they shared 38 wonderful years of marriage. He was born on March 16, 1949, in Providence, RI to the late Richard and Shirley (Merebaum) Zickendrath.

Robert dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving the City of Warwick as a police officer for an impressive 25 years. His commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community earned him the respect and admiration of those he served alongside and protected. As a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the East Greenwich Fireman's Club, he found camaraderie and support among his fellow officers, further solidifying his connection to the law enforcement community.

A devoted father, Robert cherished spending time with his two sons, Bobby and Kyle, creating lasting memories through camping trips and actively participating in all their endeavors as they grew up. His involvement in their lives was a source of pride, and the bond he shared with his sons was a testament to the values he instilled in them.

Robert's passion for history was evident in his academic pursuits, culminating in a bachelor's degree from the University of Rhode Island in Political Science. Despite choosing a career in law enforcement, he remained a knowledgeable and enthusiastic student of history throughout his life.

Robert is survived by his wife Linda Zickendrath and their two children: Robert “Bobby” Zickendrath (Mackenzie Milner) and Kyle Zickendrath (Samantha). Robert was one of twelve children and leaves many siblings, nieces and nephews. He will be remembered fondly by his family, friends, and colleagues, and his impact on the lives of those he touched will endure as a lasting tribute to the remarkable man he was.
Calling hours will take place at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 E. Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Saturday, January 6 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
