On Tuesday, a ribbon cutting celebration was held to recognize the grand opening of Indigo Hair Salon’s extended service and remodel.
Located on Warwick Avenue, Indigo now offers massages, body wraps, facials and full-body waxing in the newly remodeled upstairs facility.
Owner Jaymie Hazard was the owner of Indigo Hair Salon on Block Island for 20 years before moving to Warwick in 2012. A native of Warwick, she grew up in the Pawtuxet Village area and moved back with her family.
Hazard purchased the facility on Warwick Avenue in May of 2013, opening Indigo in the new location in July 2013. At the time she purchased the building, the upstairs was being used as an apartment. When the tenant moved out, Hazard decided to expand her business and provide more services.
Two manicure stations and two private rooms for massages, facials and other treatments officially opened this week. Indigo employs six individuals, including a newly hired aesthetician for the new services.
The grand opening celebration included a visit from Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian, Warwick Tourism, Culture and Development director Karen Jedson, Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce president Lauren Slocum, and many other members of the community. The main event took place in the salon’s parking lot, complete with a DJ, dessert and hors d’ouerves items to eat and raffle items.
Proceeds from the raffle items and 50/50 raffle were donated to The Autism Project, a Johnston-based non-profit servicing children and families living with autism throughout Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.
The staff at Indigo extended their thanks to all the local businesses who donated food, raffle prizes or other items to the grand opening celebration including T’s Restaurant, Jade Dragon Chinese Restaurant, Yard Works, Picasso’s Pub, F.M. IM Gan Liquors, Governor Francis Inn, Mousie’s Deli, Imperial Ceramics, Little John’s Pizza, Harbor Lights, International Chimney, Taylor Rentals and Bolger and O’Hearn.
