The Toll Gate girls’ swimming team beat out Pilgrim on Tuesday night, 53-38, to improve to 5-3 in Division III.
The Pats got off to a quick start, winning the first three events, but Toll Gate won seven in a row to help take the crown.
Sophomore Fortune Premy won the 50 and 100 free races for Pilgrim, and sophomore Mackenzie Fraser followed up with a victory in the 100 backstroke.
Then, the Titans got going.
Sophomore Wenona Alexander had top finishes in the 100 butterfly and 500 free, while sophomore Athena Sampalis took home the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley. Freshman Alyssa O’Keefe also notched a win in the 200 free.
Toll Gate took the first two relays, the 200 free and 200 medley. O’Keefe, junior Veronica Weaver, senior Brittany Amaral and sophomore Emma Seidenberg helped win the former, while O’Keefe, Sampalis, Alexander and Seidenberg were victorious in the latter.
The Pats won the 400 free relay behind a strong performance from Fraser, Premy, senior Sophia Caracuzzo and sophomore Katherine Richardson.
The Titans don’t have any more individual meets before states, but the Pats will swim today at 5:30 p.m. against Warwick Vets at McDermott Pool.
