Warwick’s Hogan signs NLI with Division I Central Connecticut

Posted

Warwick native and Bishop Feehan midfielder/forward Emily Hogan recently signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her soccer career at Division I Central Connecticut State University.

Hogan is coming off of a spectacular senior season, in which she scored 20 goals and dished out 20 assists, earning All-State honors. As a team, Feehan went undefeated in the regular season and made a deep run into the playoffs.

Hogan, who has lived in Warwick all of her life and grew up playing Warwick Firefighters, took a bit of an unconventional route in attending Feehan in Attleboro, Mass., but she has loved every minute of her high school experience. The tradition and success of Feehan’s soccer program lured her to Attleboro, and it turned out to be the right move for her.

“I loved it there, I just think it’s a great school,” Hogan said of attending Feehan. “I had some friends going there and they talked to me about it. I went to open house and I had a good feeling about it. And I just wanted to be part of their soccer program that is typically good and competitive.”

And the soccer program certainly provided college exposure for Hogan.

She will now look to carry her on-field production into her collegiate career, hoping to step right in and contribute for the Blue Devils.

“I hope so, I think I should have a chance at it,” Hogan said of potentially having the opportunity to play right away.

The transition from high school to college should be a bit easier for Hogan than most kids, as she’ll have a sense of familiarity going in already knowing a pair of her teammates. Pilgrim’s Hannah Page and La Salle’s Anya Bornstein, of Cranston, also recently signed NLIs to play for CCSU. The trio plays together for Bayside FC, and will look to bring the chemistry that they’ve established to the field for the Blue Devils.

“I’m very excited,” Hogan said of playing with Page and Bornstein in college. “Hannah and I will most likely be roommates. We’ve been best friends since we were in under-8 soccer. And then Anya and I have gotten pretty close playing together and we play more offensively, so we have a good connection on and off the field.”

To get ready for her collegiate career, Hogan has continued to work out with a trainer that she’s been going to for the last few years, in addition to working on her individual skills, as she won’t receive the CCSU workout packet until she graduates high school.

Until then, Hogan will continue her own workout regiment so that she can live out her dream of playing college soccer to the best of her abilities.

“It’s been a goal for me since I was little,” Hogan said. “I’ve always wanted to play Division I.”
